Question: Recently one of my cats – all my cats are female and spayed – started peeing on the couch. I’ve tried pet odor spray cleaners, steam cleaning couches, spraying with Febreze, and placing furniture outside for sun and ventilation.
I also bought an expensive product called Dumb Cat that neutralizes urine crystals and keeps cats away. I think it helps the cat, but I can’t get rid of the old smell. Is there a reliable solution to get rid of this smell? I can use vinegar (as Heloise often suggests), but I don’t want my house to smell like lettuce. Ha ha.
How To Remove Pee, Urine Stains From Clothing And Furniture
Answer: I assume you have ruled out medical problems in your cat and do not need me to advise you on behavioral or environmental issues that may be causing your cat to urinate outside the box. (If so, let me know.)
As for your couch, have you already tried the things I suggest, like enzymatic cleaners that neutralize urine crystals. However, when you steam clean the sofa, the smell can be locked in. I would use the enzyme product a few times to see if it releases more fragrance.
My second choice is vinegar and baking soda, but only on new wet areas. Spray the area with a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water to saturate it. Let stand for 10 minutes. Use a paper towel to absorb excess moisture. Apply a thick paste of baking soda to the area and leave it on for three to five hours. The baking soda absorbs the vinegar and urine so there is no residual odor. Vacuum up the baking soda and let it air dry.
Let me know if the latest enzyme cleaner effort works. If the urine smell persists, your only option may be to get a new sofa.

Question: People have trouble leaving food for small animals in response to feeding feral cats. In the closed environment created by multi-family housing, we fear that mice, raccoons and cats will come onto the ground because people feed them. In our experience, eliminating outdoor food can eliminate unwanted populations of organisms from our properties, attics, and walls.
A: You are right, feeding feral cats does not mean leaving food for feral cats. The feral cat keepers I know feed the cats at scheduled times and don’t – and shouldn’t – leave food out all day or night which, as you point out, attracts other animals. If the neighbors leave food for the cat, ask them to feed the cat at the scheduled feeding time and take the bowl away when the cat is full. fulfillment. “
Oh, the horrible smell of cat pee! Man, that thing is bad. Even a few drops on the floor can make your whole house smell like a bottle of ammonia! it’s terrible! depressing! But don’t worry, we’ll find the cat urine and get rid of the smell for good, or at least before your feline friend has another accident.
The most important part of cleaning up cat urine is finding it. It can be difficult to track down. After 24 years with cats, the best advice I can give is to use your nose. Get on all fours and start sniffing around. It is literally the most effective way to find its source. I know it sounds painful and the reason it sounds painful is because it is! But the amazing thing is that once you find it, you know it!
How To Easily Clean That Cat Pee Smell
You buy a good bottle of Nature’s Miracle, no, it’s not a sales pitch, it works. If you have a recurring pet odor that needs cleaning, buy the largest bottle you can afford. It’s worth it. What you do is soak the area with the solution and let it sit. let it sit. It needs soaking and the enzymes need time to work. Leave it. that. sit.
In the case of carpet, wet the area fairly well to allow the solution to pass through the carpet and into the filler. I can assure you that the smell of cat urine has made its way here. Besides, do you really want to do this more than once? No, just soak it and let it sit. I like to let it sit for about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, I blotted up as much of the solution as I could with an old towel and let it air dry.
My cats are getting older and one of them seems to have a leaky bladder when scared. I just bought a new leather sofa and my baby is lying on the blanket with a leaky bladder. Well, another cat probably pounced on it and a small pee from the blanket landed on my new couch with a thud.
I was very reluctant to use Nature’s Miracle on my new sofa but nothing else worked so I did it here. I lather the solution with a sponge. After foaming, I apply the foam to the skin and let it work. After 10 minutes I did it again and repeated the process until the smell was gone. I would not use this method on raw or untreated skin. Do not use this method if you cannot wipe with a damp cloth! The last thing you want to do is ruin your skin. I’m not saying it will screw it up, but I have no idea.

This solution seems to be quite safe for hardwood as I have used them many times as well. I just pour some on a rag and wipe the floor. When it dried I wiped it off with water, viola and the smell was gone. I will not soak your wood floors. A simple wipe is enough.
Fabric furniture is easy, just use the same method as for carpets. Soak and sit. After 30 minutes, pat dry and you should be good to go.
So there you have it. If you want a really effective cat urine cleaner, Nature’s Miracle is a miracle.
As a side note, if you have multiple cats in your home and urinate outside the litter, add extra litter and keep it clean. Cats are very clean animals and do not like dirty litter. Sometimes they don’t even like the smell of another cat’s mess. One of my cats doesn’t use the litter box at all until the litter box is cleaned in the morning. As soon as I cleaned up the trash, the first one came.
