“Fallen arches” is an old school term these days. Your nan may have told you that if you don’t wear the right shoes, you’ll get “fallen arches.” Or an elderly aunt told stories of arthritis and falling arches. There were no phones back then, so you listened to people.
Fallen arch is often a term used to describe what the foot looks like when it develops a condition where your Tibialis Posterior (muscle name of choice) stops working. This usually happens one foot at a time. This is the difference between fallen arches and flat feet.
Usually, we see that the arch contour is lowered, lowered, or lowered. You may also develop a lump on the inside of your ankle. You may also notice that the foot turns, especially in the toes. This happens very slowly over time. This means that it can occasionally type people.

Exercise – Building strength in muscles and tendons is important and will be appreciated on many levels, but it won’t suddenly restore your arch to its former arch glory!
Good shoes – Great supportive shoes will help support the feet. Well it depends on what stage the foot is on. Also all stages will find value in good shoes.
Orthotics – Orthotics will support the arch of the foot. This can protect the foot from further deterioration. These reduce or eliminate pain in many cases. It depends on the level, too! Custom orthotics are more likely to provide good results at this stage. Over the counter products, may provide limited relief but often do not provide enough support.

Surgery – usually reserved for late stages of PTTD or collapsed arch. Time when it’s really bad or as described above it’s pulled to the bone – Ouch Mama!
My advice is to see a podiatrist as soon as you notice any symptoms. Prevention is better than cure. My formula for success in most cases (depending on the level) is shoes, orthotics and muscle rehabilitation to build strength.
