Loneliness is a common feeling and something we can all relate to from time to time, but for others it can be a constant feeling and something we struggle to talk about.

We here at Community Solutions understand that you don’t have to be alone to feel lonely. Sometimes life can throw us in a bad situation and we find ourselves in situations where we can feel lonely or isolated, even if we have friends or family around us, and you can feel like you don’t know where to turn.

Whether you feel lonely because of a bereavement, relationship breakup, ill health, poor mobility, job loss, or any other reason? We believe that everyone is important, and we are here for you when you need it most. There are many ways we can help you feel supported and reduce loneliness. Here are some ideas:

How To Be Alone Without Being Lonely

We run a free befriending service and have a dedicated team of people ready to give you a chat, video call or even a home visit. (According to government guidelines) A ​​weekly phone call or visit can help you feel less alone and can lift you up but don’t just take our word for it, just read some of the great comments in the image above.

At normal times we have around 20 social groups, held every week, on the grounds of Elmfield Hall. Our groups cover many fun and interesting topics including knitting, advanced design, photography, over 50s, general support groups for men, women and mixed groups.

We are always looking for new volunteers to help us. Whether you want to be a friend, help run a social group, or provide administrative or business support, we can find something for you. Volunteering can help you build your confidence, make new friends, and feel like you’re volunteering too.

Learning can help keep your mind and body active and is a great way to meet new people. We offer a range of free courses, which take place at Elmfield Hall, including Employment Training, Grief and Bereavement Support, Mindfulness, and more. Our courses can boost your confidence, improve your mental health and help you connect more with your local community or return to work.
